Final Project : Picsel

Collaborator : Amanda Lee   Me and my partner started fabricating the box. All the buttons will be mounted on it and users will be connected to the project through this box. These are some sketches for the box. We went to the lumber store to get materials, MDF. We cut it into pieces and fixed […]

Final Project

After getting all the hand data we need from Leap motion sensor, we started programming from the basic structure. (Thanks to Or Fleisher, he helped us a lot!) We coded to draw on screen with right index finger’s tip position and to erase with left palm’s position(for at this point). We made it to draw repetitive circles to make lines, […]

Final Project

First time connecting Leap Motion to my laptop. Getting hand/fingers’ data. Drawing continuos ellipses that looks like line with a finger. Using not only index finger’s X and Y position, but I started using Z position or depth to control the size of circles. Continuous circles with different colors.

Final Project – PHASE 0. Concept & Brainstorming

For my final project, I am thinking of building a drawing tool. I want users to stand in front of a green screen, and they will see themselves on screen. They will use their own body(or just a hand) to draw something for the background of their own image. If one stirs a finger in the air, […]

Week 9. Video and Sound

This week, I learned how to import video(camera) and sound into my p5 sketch. This topic was so interesting and it feels like I get more and more possibilities to do many different things. I decided to use camera, mic input and if possible, sound too. First I imported photo booth and spent some time […]

Week 8. API

I searched for many different APIs for this project. I thought visualizing sound data or comments would be fun, so looked for APIs from Youtube, Spotify, Billboard and even Facebook. But I found it so difficult to get those APIs because of OAuth, so I had to find easier API. What I found was space […]

Week 6. ITP Synthesis

In ITP synthesis day, Ellen and I were in a team working on physical variable sketch together. We started with basic digital variable first. We used a push button to give digital input and on p5 canvas, the little white dot appears and disaapears as an output. For the analog input, we used the flex sensor. […]

Week 3. Annie and Lin

This week, Lin and I worked as a team making a design algorithm and interface with p5.js. For the efficiency, we divided the project into two parts and focused on each work. I made the algorithm and Lin made the interfaces. Then we planned to merge them together. For the design algorithm, I wanted to […]

Week 2. Animation

I created a sketch of a woman’s face in geometric way. I was supposed to include these conditions : One element controlled by the mouse. One element that changes over time, independently of the mouse. One element that is different every time you run the sketch. My sketch matched first two conditions, but not the […]

Week 1. Drawing

For now, I am not so sure about how computation will apply to my interests. Maybe it is because I know very little about it; I do not understand how far I can realize with computation, what are the limitations, what are the strengths and weakness yet. But if I get to know it much […]
